2.How many sons of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Historians and narrators agree that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had four daughters, although there is a difference in the number of sons. The reason for the difference is that the son of the Prophet (peace be upon him) died in infancy. Most historians state the number of sons to be three.

     1. Hazrat Qasim, may Allah be pleased with him.

     2. Hazrat Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him.

     3. Hazrat Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him).

While some said that the fourth son is Hazrat Tayyab and the fifth is Hazrat Tahir. According to the opinion of the first companions, Tayyab and Tahir are the titles of Hazrat Abdullah.

All the children of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) were born from the womb of Umm al-Mu’minin Syeda Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, except Hazrat Ibrahim who was born from the womb of Umm al-Mu’minin Syeda Maria Coptic.

From the womb of Syeda Khadija (RA) four daughters and two sons of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) Rizwanullah were born.

3.How many daughters of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The names and brief descriptions of the daughters of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) are as follows:

     1. Hazrat Syeda Zainab, may Allah be pleased with her.

      2. Hazrat Syeda Ruqiyah, may Allah be pleased with her.

     3. Hazrat Syeda Umm Kulthum, may Allah be pleased with her.

      4. Hazrat Syeda Fatima Al-Zahra, may Allah be pleased with her.

       1. Hazrat Syeda Zainab, may Allah be pleased with her.

From the womb of Syeda Khadija Al-Kubra, Syeda Zainab is the eldest daughter of Muhammad (peace be upon him). She was born in Makkah ten years before the Prophet’s resurrection. When Khadijah converted to Islam at the time of the proclamation of Prophethood, Zainab was also converted to Islam with his mother.

Zainab was married to Hazrat Abul Aas bin Rabi ‘, a wealthy, noble and trustworthy man from Makkah. Hazrat Abul Aas was the real nephew of Syeda Khadijatul Kabra. After the proclamation of Prophethood, the polytheists of Makkah persuaded Hazrat Abul Aas to divorce Syeda Zainab, daughter of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and we can offer marriage to any woman of Quraysh tribe. Hazrat Abul Aas refused to divorce Syeda Zainab. During the siege of Shaab Abi Talib, Abu al-‘Aas continued to arrange food for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and other besieged people. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: He paid his due even though Hazrat Abul Aas had not yet converted to Islam. Hazrat Abul Aas converted to Islam in the sixth year of his migration.

Syeda Zainab had a son Ali bin Abul Aas and a daughter umama bint Abul Aas. While one son died in his childhood. On the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Holy Prophet (sws) had Hazrat Ali ibn Abul-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) on his horse behind him. He was martyred in the battle of Yarmouk. According to some traditions, he reached puberty and died of natural causes.

During her migration from Makkah to Madinah, Zainab was wounded by the spear of Habar bin Aswad. This wound caused her death. That is why some dignitaries have interpreted her as a martyr. After their burial, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave his apron to Zaynab (ra) to keep with her shroud. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took her down to the grave and then said: Trouble and fear were in front of me and Zainab’s weakness and weakness was also in front of me. This made me sad. So I have prayed to Allah Almighty to make this situation easier for Zainab, so Allah Almighty accepted and made it easy for Zainab.

      2. Hazrat Syeda Ruqiyah, may Allah be pleased with her.

Hazrat Ruqayyah (RA) is the secnd daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who is three years younger than Hazrat Zainab (RA). Syeda Ruqayyah was also born from the womb of Syeda Khadija Al-Kubra. At the time of his birth, the Holy Prophet (sws) was about 33 years old. After the proclamation of Prophethood, Syeda Ruqiya converted to Islam along with her mother and elder sister.

Before her enlightenment, Syeda Ruqayyah was married to Utbah, the son of Abu Lahab, but she had to leave. After the proclamation of Prophethood, Allah Almighty condemned Abu Lahab and his wife for obstructing the path of the Prophet of Islam and for publishing disbelief and polytheism against the message of truth, so Abu Lahab separated his son from Ruqiya bint Muhammad. Utbah ibn Abu Lahab divorced Syeda Ruqayyah. After that, in Makkah, Syeda Ruqayyah was married to Hazrat Uthman bin Affan. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) says that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that Allah Almighty has sent a revelation to me that I should marry my daughter Ruqiyah (RA) to Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (RA). So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married her to Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (ra) and at the same time took leave of her.

In the fifth year of Prophethood, Hazrat Uthman migrated to Habsha at the behest of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and was accompanied by Hazrat Ruqayyah. This was the first caravan of those who migrated in the way of God. On this occasion, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “How beautiful this couple is.” After the migration of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to Madinah, Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) He migrated to Madinah with his wife Syeda Ruqiya. During their stay in Habsha, the couple gave birth to a son named Abdullah, which made Uthman’s surname Abu Abdullah famous. Hazrat Abdullah passed away at the age of 6 in Medina. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) offered his funeral prayers and Hazrat ‘Uthmaan (ra) took him down to the grave.

The Battle of Badr took place in the second year of the Hijrah. Meanwhile, Syeda Ruqayyah fell ill with measles. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told ‘Uthmaan to stay in Madinah to take care of Syeda Ruqayyah. After the departure of the Holy Prophet (sws) for the Battle of Badr, Syeda Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away. When Zayd ibn Haritha reached Madinah with the glad tidings of the victory of the Battle of Badr, at that time after burying Hazrat Ruqayyah, the mourners were shaking the dust with their hands.

A few days later, the Holy Prophet (sws) reached Madinah and visited the tomb of Ruqayyah in Janat al-Baqi ‘and the Holy Prophet (sws) prayed for Hazrat Ruqayyah.

     3. Hazrat Syeda Umm Kulthum may Allah be pleased with her.

Hazrat Syeda Umm Kulthum (RA) is the third daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). She is younger than Syeda Ruqayyah. She was also born from the womb of Syeda Khadija Al-Kubra.

Before the proclamation of Prophethood, the Holy Prophet (sws) had married Umm Kulthoom to his uncle Abu Lahab’s son Atiba. It was about to leave. Atiba divorced him at the request of Abu Lahab. Û” At the time of the migration to Madinah, Umm Al-Mu’minin Syeda Soodah bint Zamza, Syeda Umm Kulthoom and Syeda Fatima Al-Zahra remained in Makkah from the family of the Holy Prophet (sws). Later, Hazrat Abu Rafi ‘and Hazrat Zaid bin Haritha came to pick them up and took them safely to Madinah.

After the demise of Syeda Ruqayyah, the Holy Prophet (sws) married Syeda Umm Kulthum to Hazrat Uthman Ghani, according to the traditions. Hazrat Usman (RA) did not have any children from Hazrat Syeda Umm Kulthum (RA). She remained in the marriage of Hazrat Uthman (RA) for six years and she passed away on Sha’ban 9 AH.

      4. Hazrat Syeda  Fatima Al-Zahra, may Allah be pleased with her.

Hazrat Fatima (RA) is the youngest daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). At the time of his birth, the Holy Prophet (sws) was forty-one years old and had been declared a prophet. She was brought up and trained by Khadijah and the Holy Prophet (sws). After the migration of the Holy Prophet (sws) to Madinah, she migrated with Umm Al-Mu’minin Syeda Soodah bint Zama and her elder sister Syeda Umm Kulthoom under the protection of Hazrat Zaid bin Haritha and Hazrat Abu Rafi ‘.

In the month of Rajab 2 AH, Syeda Fatima (RA) was married to Hazrat Syedna Ali Al-Murtada (RA). At the time of marriage, Hazrat Ali (RA) was 21 or 24 years old and Fatima (RA) was 15 or 18 years old.

From the womb of Syed Fatima, Hazrat Ali gave birth to three sons and two daughters, including Hazrat Imam Hassan, Hazrat Imam Hussain, Hazrat Zainab Kubra, Hazrat Zainab sughra (Umm Kulthum) and Hazrat Mohsin Razi Allah Almighty is included. Hazrat Mohsin (RA) passed away at a young age. Syeda Zainab Kubra was married to Hazrat Abdullah bin Jafar Tayyar while Hazrat Zainab Sughra (Umm Kulthum) was married to Hazrat Umar Farooq on 17 AH.

After the demise of the Holy Prophet (sws), Hazrat Fatima (ra) was very sad. This grief proved to be a disease of death for you. During her illness, Hazrat Asma bint Umays, the wife of the first Caliph Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, took care of him and performed her services. Six months after the demise of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), Fatimah fell ill and after a few days of illness, she passed away on Tuesday night at the age of twenty-eight or twenty-nine. Û” The first caliph, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) led his funeral prayers and many Companions, including Ali Al-Murtada and Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), attended the funeral prayers. He was buried in Janat al-Baqi ‘. Hazrat Ali (RA), Hazrat Abbas (RA) and Hazrat Fazl bin Abbas (RA) brought him down to the grave.
