Actual and real way to dua of dead person in Islam is the funeral prayer or Namaz- e- Janaza.

Funeral prayers is the best way to dua for a dead person and in Islam it is obligatory for muslims. If some muslims perform it, then all of them will be absolved, but if no one performs it, then all of them will be sinners. The method of performing the dua of janaza is that the Imam should stand in front of the chest of the deceased (dead body). If the deceased is an adult, he should intend to pray for his forgiveness, and if the deceased is a minor, he should intend to make him his furt, reward, and intercessor and acceptable intercessor.

After that, he intends to perform the funeral prayer as follows:

Then he should say the third takbeer without raising his hand and pray for forgiveness for the deceased and all Muslims. Read the following du’aa ‘for the funeral prayers of both adult men and women:

  7. How do you say condolences in Islam?

   It is customary to say

   ” اِنَّا لِلّٰہِ وَاِنَّآ اِلَیْہِ رَاجِعُوْنَ”

on death of a Muslim: Therefore, condolence is a mustahab, a definite sunnah, and obligatory if it is relative.

 Virtues of condolence:

Numerous hadiths and relics have been narrated on the virtues of condolence and Muslims have also acted upon it.

Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah have narrated from Ibn Mas’ud that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever offers condolences to a person in distress, he will get the same reward as the one in distress”.

Ibn Majah and others have narrated from Amr ibn Hazm that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The believer who condoles his brother in distress, Allah will clothe him with honor and dignity on the Day of Resurrection.”

Tabarani and other narrators have quoted the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):

Whoever consoles a distressed person, Allah Almighty will clothe him with two such pairs of clothes of Paradise.

Apart from the above mentioned virtues of condolence and its reward, the greatest virtue of condolence is that this act is the definite Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sws).

    Method of condolence:

The Islamic Shari’ah does not prescribe any specific method of condolence, but there are several forms of condolence which we describe below:

If he goes for condolence, he should pray for the forgiveness of the deceased and reward his heirs for their patience, and this may be the best prayer on this occasion, which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited:

” إن لله ما أخذ وله ما أعطى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى ”

“The thing taken is also His and the given thing was also His and everything is written with Him according to the appointed time.”

On this occasion, the relatives of the deceased should be encouraged to hope for patience and reward. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded his daughter when her beloved husband is died:

” مرها فلتصبر ولتحتسب فإن لله ما أخذ وله ما أعطى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى ”

Relatives of the deceased can also be said these words on the occasion of condolence:

أحسَنَ اللهُ عَزَاءَكُم وَجَبرَ مُصَابَكُم وَغَفَرَ لمَِيتكُم” ۔

Or any suitable prayer words in the style of these words which can be said to be a consolation, patience and reward for the deceased.

    2. One form of condolence is to console the family of the deceased by arranging food for them or by meeting their needs in this regard. When Hazrar Jafar bin Abu-Taalib martyrdom was reported in battle of Mota, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ordered in his house:

Prepare food for Jafar’s family, because of grief his family can’t do it.
