1. How can I do Istikhara by myself?
According to the Sunnah, the simplest and easiest way to perform Istikharah is to perform two rak’ats of Nafl Istikharah at any time of the day or night (provided that it is not a makrooh time to perform Nafl) with the intention of performing Istikharah. Yes, may Allah Almighty decide which way is best for me.
2. How do you perform Dua Istikhara?
After the salutation and after the prayer, ask for the best dua ‘of Istikharah which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has instructed. This is a very special dua. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not give up his life this supplication. If you are having difficulty in praying in Arabic, then ask this prayer in English or Urdu as well, that’s all! All the words of the prayer are the ones that are wanted and intended by it. Those words are:

اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ أَسْتَخِیْرُکَ بِعِلْمِکَ ، وَ أَسْتَقْدِرُکَ بِقُدْرَتِکَ، وَ أَسْأَلُکَ مِنْ فَضْلِکَ الْعَظِیْمِ ، فَاِنَّکَ تَقْدِرُ وَ لاَ أَقْدِرُ، وَ تَعْلَمُ وَلاَ أَعْلَمُ ، وَ أَنْتَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُیُوْبِ ․
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنْ کُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ہٰذَا الْأَمْرَ خَیْرٌ لِّیْ فِیْ دِیْنِیْ وَ مَعَاشِیْ وَ عَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِیْ وَ عَاجِلِہ وَ اٰجِلِہ ، فَاقْدِرْہُ لِیْ ، وَ یَسِّرْہُ لِیْ ، ثُمَّ بَارِکْ لِیْ فِیْہِ ․
وَ اِنْ کُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ھٰذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌ لِّیْ فِیْ دِیْنِیْ وَمَعَاشِیْ وَ عَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِیْ وَ عَاجِلِہ وَ اٰجِلِہ ، فَاصْرِفْہُ عَنِّیْ وَاصْرِفْنِیْ عَنْہُ ، وَاقْدِرْ لِیَ الْخَیْرَ حَیْثُ کَانَ ثُمَّ اَرْضِنِیْ بِہ․
4. Dua of Istikhara in English.
O Allah! I seek goodness and goodness from you through your knowledge and I seek power over goodness through your power, you are the knower of the unseen.
O Allah! You know, I do not know, that is, whether this matter is better for me or not, you know it, not me, and you have power and I do not have power.
O Allah! If you know that this matter (bring to mind the matter for which Istikharah is taking place) is better for me, better for my religion, better for my livelihood and worldly. Yes, and it is better in terms of outcome, and in terms of my immediate benefit and also in terms of long-term benefit, make it destiny for me and make it easy for me and create blessings for me in it.
And if you know that this matter (bring to mind the matter for which Istikharah is taking place) is bad for me, bad for my religion or right for my world and livelihood I am bad or bad in terms of my end result, not even better in terms of immediate benefit and lasting benefit, then turn this job away from me and turn me away from it and do good for me wherever it is, ie If this is not a good thing for me, then leave it and decide what is best for me in return, then make me agree with it and also satisfy me with it.
While praying, when you come to “this command” (under which there is a line), say “this command” and think in your heart about the work for which you are reciting istikharah.
5. Dua for Istikhara in Urdu.
اے اللہ ! میں آپ کے علم کا واسطہ دے کر آپ سے خیراور بھلائی طلب کرتا ہوں اور آپ کی قدرت کا واسطہ دے کر میں اچھائی پر قدرت طلب کرتا ہوں ، آپ غیب کو جاننے والے ہیں ۔
اے اللہ ! آپ علم رکھتے ہیں میں علم نہیں رکھتا ، یعنی یہ معاملہ میرے حق میں بہتر ہے یا نہیں ،اس کا علم آپ کو ہے، مجھے نہیں ، اور آپ قدرت رکھتے ہیں اور مجھ میں قوت نہیں ۔
یا اللہ ! اگر آپ کے علم میں ہے کہ یہ معاملہ (اس موقع پر اس معاملہ کا تصور دل میں لائیں جس کے لیے استخارہ کررہا ہے ) میرے حق میں بہتر ہے ، میرے دین کے لیے بھی بہتر ہے ، میری معاش اور دنیا کے اعتبار سے بھی بہتر ہے اور انجام کار کے اعتبار سے بھی بہتر ہے اور میرے فوری نفع کے اعتبار سے اور دیرپا فائدے کے اعتبار سے بھی تو اس کو میرے لیے مقدر فرمادیجیے اور اس کو میرے لیے آسان فرمادیجیے اور اس میں میرے لیے برکت پیدا فرمادیجیے ۔
6. Dua for Istikharah for marriage.
Marriage is the most important stage in human life. The choice of spouse should be made very carefully. If there is harmony between husband and wife, if they take care of each other’s physical inclinations, habits, likes and dislikes, then such a house is a paradise and big bounty of Allah , if the opposite is the case, then there is torment in this world. It is our misfortune to see gross abuse and mistakes on the part of both parents and children in the decision of marriage. Parents usually choose inappropriate relationships between relatives or to marry out of greed which results in nothing but ruin. In the same way, the children also fall prey to the curse of Love Marriage by rejecting the facts, which is a temporary and emotional decision, the result of which comes to the fore in a very horrible situation after a short while.
Istikharah is a great weapon to avoid all these misfortunes in which there are no chances of failure. In view of the importance of marriage, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has specifically commanded Istikharah. Although the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to mention istikharah in general, which includes marriage, but its special mention speaks volumes about its importance.
The best way to perform Istikharah for marriage is to perform two rak’ats of Namaz, recite salaam and then recite the dua of Istikharah. And pray like this: O Allah! Decide what is best to do or not to do this marriage. Then follow the direction in which the tendency arises in the heart.
7. Istikhara Dua for Job.
If a person does not get a job according to his education and skills then he gets frustrated, but at that time we should also look at what is the potential of this job in you apart from degree? Private companies prefer talented and enthusiastic people. They do a thorough psychological examination. Many young people meet me and complain that no one values them. They also complain that they do du’aa’s, recite tasbeehat and prayers but du’aa’s are not accepted. We humans rely on du’a but do not adopt the manner of du’a. Young people are wandering in search. They should seek the help of Istikharah prayer and after doing Istikharah they should take the following action. InshaAllah they will get the job soon.
Awaken during Tahajjud and pray to Allah by performing Nawafil in continuous Tahajjud. After Tahajjud prayer, recite Surah Fateh. Certainly the prayers of such people are accepted.
8. How many times should you perform Istikhara?
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says in a narration that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: Anas!
When you intend to do something, ask Allah seven times about it, then look at what is put in your heart after that (ie the result) When the thing is induced, adopt that which is better for you.
It is better to perform Istikharah regularly for three to seven days with restraint. But it is important to understand that there is no time limit for performing Istikharah. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had performed Istikharah for one month, then one month later you would have become completely satisfied.
9. Types of Istikhara.
There are two types of way we can adopt for dua for istikhara:
1. Masnun dua for Istikhara.
2. Short Dua for Istikhara.

Another method of Istikharah
A detailed method of Sunnah Istikharah is the one which has been explained in detail before, but it should be noted that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) suggested a short istikharah even in case of lack of time and quick decision so as not to be deprived of istikharah. Be that as it may, the masnun method of istikharah that has been offered before, is when a person has time and opportunity to perform istikharah. Man has to make such a quick and quick decision, there is no opportunity to pray after reciting two rak’ats, because suddenly something comes up and he has to decide immediately whether to do it or not, there is not enough time to do two The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) himself suggested a short Dua of Istikhara for such an occasion, which is:
10. Istikhara Dua Short.
اَللّٰہُمَّ خِرْ لِیْ وَاخْتَرْ لِیْ․
O Allah! Please tell me which path I should take, just read this du’aa ‘. In addition to this, another du’aa’ that the Holy Prophet (sws) has instructed is:
اَللّٰہُمَّ اہْدِنِیْ وَسَدِّدْنِیْ ․
O Allah! Guide me and keep me on the right path.
There is another similar prayer:
اَللّٰہُمَ اَلْہِمْنِیْ رُشْدِیْ .
O Allah! Instill in my heart the right path, recite the dua that comes to mind, and if the dua does not come in Arabic, then pray in English or Urdu, saying: O Allah, I have encountered this dilemma. Show me the right way, if you cannot speak with your tongue, then say to Allah Almighty in your heart that O Allah! This difficulty and this trouble has arisen, you put it on the right path which is according to your will and which is good for me.
11. What is Istikhara?
Istikharah means seeking goodness and goodness in a matter, that is, turning to Allah Almighty in all your permissible deeds in daily life and asking Allah for goodness, kindness and guidance in this matter. To think that it conveys any news is a great misunderstanding which has given rise to many misunderstandings which are mentioned in detail below. It is narrated in the hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Translation: When any one of you intends to do something, he should perform two rak’ats of Nafl in addition to the obligatory prayers.
Istikhara in the light of the Prophetic Hadith.
Translation: Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach Istikharah to his Companions in all matters with the same importance as he used to teach Surah of Holy Quran.
Not doing Istikharah is deprivation and misfortune
That is, giving up and not doing Istikharah from Allah Almighty is considered as misfortune and misfortune for man.
Similarly, in a hadith, it is narrated from Hazrat Saad bin Waqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
Translation: The happiness and good fortune of man is to perform Istikharah in his deeds and it is unfortunate that he has given up Istikharah, and the good fortune of man is to be content with every decision of Allah regarding him. He should be angry with Allah’s decision.
12. The one who performs Istikharah will not fail in life.
In a hadith, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
That is, a person who practices Istikharah in his affairs will never fail and a person who consults in his affairs will never face embarrassment or remorse for why I did this work or why I did not do this work. What? Because he did what he did after consultation and if he did not do it after consultation, he will not be ashamed.
In this hadeeth which says that the one who performs Istikharah will not be successful, it means that the one who performs Istikharah will have success in terms of the outcome, even if at some point he thinks that what happened is not good. But in spite of this thought, success will be for the person who keeps on reciting Istikharah from Allah Almighty, similarly, the person who works in consultation will never regret it, because God forbid, even if that deed goes bad, his I will be satisfied in my heart that I did not do this on my own and on my own, but after consulting my friends and elders, now it is up to Allah Almighty to decide as He wills. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) advised Dobatan that whenever there is a dispute in a matter, do two things, one istikharah and the other istisharah, meaning advice.
